I have
been gambling for over 20 years now and one thing I can truely say is that
there is one gambling game out there that still gives me the same thrills that
it did when I first started playing it when I was 23 and that is blackjack.
With most other gambling games you can burnout really fast because the house
automatically has a big advantage over you. With a game like slots you know
that you really need to get really lucky to walk away from the slot machines
with a profit because in the long run the machines are set to win more then
they give out. Its true that you can win much more in a single play with slot
machines over blackjack though, but blackjack has a few more advantages in
favor of the gambler and we will discuss how to use those to your favor here.
The first
rule of thumb when playing blackjack is to try to remember that there are more
10's out there than there are of the other numbers. This is because you have
the 10 card, jack, queen and king which all count as 10 points each. So at a
casino that uses 3 decks you will have 48 cards that have a value of 10. Out of
156 cards in the 3 decks that is around 34% of the cards in the deck that have
a value of 10. If you can remember that then you allready have taken an
advantage that originally belonged to the and given it to yourself.
Remembereing how many 10's have gone by will also give you a huge advantage
over the othe rplayers on your table because it can tell you whether to ask for
another card or not on your turn based on how many cards they have asked for.
The other basic key to remember is that if the dealer has the top card of between 5-7 showing and you have 2 cards valued at between 8 to 10 the odds are in your favor to double down because chances are the dealer has a total of between 15 to 17 based on the odds we just talked about in the paragraph above. This is how you take advantage of the odds to give yourself the chance of winning as much as possible when you have a great chance of winning. This is called "letting your winners ride". I also used this style of play when I was a daytrader and it served me quite well. The key here in blackjack is to cut your losses short when ever you can. If you are on a losing streak you can cut your betting amounts in half or even stop playing for a few hours. Blackjack is considered a game of skill just as poker is so please treat it as such or you can end up losing all your hard earned cash very fast.
